India Yarborough
Journalist
India is a published writer who believes strong journalism relies on accurate and engaging storytelling that opens minds and educates readers on the world around them.
India has honed her research and reporting skills during her four years as a mass communication student at Loyola University New Orleans. She has written about a mother of four’s journey from homelessness to hope, shed light on advocates of body-positivity, explored education and health care issues in her home state, and shared how losing a best friend to war affects one’s view of a federal holiday.

In addition to producing strong written pieces, India has shot and edited video stories, photographed events, anchored newscasts and filmed live shots. She has served as copy editor, senior staff writer and news editor for her alma mater’s student newspaper The Maroon — named best four-year college media outlet in the country by the College Media Association. And she has completed three summer internships with The Commercial Dispatch — the only daily newspaper in her hometown of Columbus, Mississippi. Stories India has written for The Dispatch have been picked up by the Associated Press, U.S. News and World Report, The Seattle Times and other Mississippi papers.

During her final year at Loyola, India also served as a media intern for the Center for Progressive Reform — a Washington D.C.-based think tank focused on environmental policy. Through this internship, India analyzed CPR'S social media accounts and engagement and helped curate content for the organization's target audience. She also worked behind-the-scenes with the organization's president to produce and promote the center's premier podcast series, "Connect the Dots."
